Knowledge That Has Become a Prescription
Researchers, seekers of truth, and young people who believe that prestigious degrees from Western universities are the gateway to freedom — you have been deceived by an illusion.
What you believe to be strongholds of free inquiry have, today, in many cases, become arenas of open bidding, where ideas are sold to the highest bidder and research is purchased like commodities on the stock exchanges. The scientific dialogue that was once one of the West’s great achievements has increasingly become directed discourse, fenced-in creativity, and freedom constrained by golden chains invisible to the eye, yet capable of paralyzing intellectual movement just as shackles paralyze a prisoner.
I am not here to criticize the West as an enemy. I am here to save science from its enemies who conceal themselves behind the cloak of funding and influence. I am here to proclaim a resounding cry:
Scientific neutrality has died. It has been sacrificed upon the altar of interests.
First: A Troubled Scientific Dialogue — When Debate Becomes a Stage
Western universities were supposed to be arenas for bold questioning, where everything could be questioned and every hypothesis examined. Yet what is happening today is, in many cases, the exact opposite:
However diverse the debates may appear, they rarely move beyond a permitted circle. They resemble discussions inside a prison cell, where you are allowed to shout, but only in one direction.
Genuine religious propositions are often killed in their infancy — not necessarily because they are unscientific, but because they may challenge the interests of those who fund universities.
Creativity has become a commodity manufactured on demand. Want to research climate change? Work within frameworks that do not challenge the oil industry. Want to research artificial intelligence? Make sure it serves American national security rather than the liberation of humanity.
The problem is not simply the absence of dialogue. The problem is that dialogue itself has become, at times, an instrument of deception. You are invited to debate, provided that you do not cross the red lines drawn in gold.
Second: The Financial Elite — A Shadow Sovereignty
Who runs Western universities today? Not the deans, not the professors, and not even the students.
They are increasingly influenced by financial elites: small groups of wealthy individuals, multinational corporations, and funding institutions that control research budgets and influence what is studied and what is neglected, what is published and what disappears.
Today, researchers seeking funding may find themselves forced to negotiate their intellectual direction:
They read funding announcements to discover what institutions want, then design research that satisfies those priorities.
They modify the titles and framing of their research to make them “aligned with national priorities” — priorities that may, in practice, overlap with the interests of major corporations.
They turn away from deeper questions that may disturb investors and move toward safer questions that generate points in the publication market.
This is not merely a decline in ethics. It is the transformation of science into an instrument of soft imperialism. Science funded from only one direction cannot be entirely neutral. And science that is not neutral risks becoming nothing more than sophisticated propaganda expressed in the language of numbers.
Third: Researchers Under Guardianship — Restricted Creativity and Costly Questions
Researchers in the West today, and likewise researchers in universities that follow Western methodologies, can find themselves under the pressure of funding:
If a researcher wants to study colonial history from the perspective of its victims, funding may become difficult to obtain.
If someone wishes to investigate economic theories alternative to capitalism, they may be accused of “intellectual anarchism.”
If a researcher dares to question Western narratives concerning war in the Middle East, finding a reputable peer-reviewed journal willing to publish the work may become extremely difficult.
The researcher has increasingly come to resemble a “knowledge employee,” producing intellectual commodities demanded by the market, just as a factory worker produces material goods demanded by consumers. And once knowledge becomes a commodity, it is unsurprising that it becomes subject to the laws of supply and demand. Supply and demand know neither morality nor truth; they know only profit.
Fourth: The Cry of Liberation — Science for Everyone, Not for the Elite
If this is the condition of science in the West, what is the solution?
The solution is an epistemological revolution.
A revolution that redefines science itself:
Science is not a tool for serving the powerful; it is a tool for liberating the weak.
Science is not a mirror reflecting the worldview of the elite; it is a magnifying lens that exposes the flaws of the system.
Science is not a commodity to be bought and sold; it is a fundamental human right, like air and water.
We must build alternative universities that begin with the concerns of our peoples, are funded by our peoples, publish in our languages, and address our own questions. Universities that do not bow to financial elites, do not fear asking forbidden questions, and do not wait for permission from Washington or London to be creative.
We are not asking the West to finance our scientific revolution. We are asking it to stop contaminating science with its money.
Fifth: The New Covenant
Free researchers:
Do not sell your minds. Fame and money are temporary, but truth endures.
Do not wait for funding to create. Genuine creativity is often born in darkness, when no one is watching.
Do not fear isolation. Every great scientific revolution began in relative isolation before its ideas prevailed through their truth.
And to the Western universities that have become repositories of intellectual dependency, we declare:
We will cast off the yoke of your dependency. We will produce our own knowledge, finance our research through our own efforts, and evaluate our sciences according to our own standards. We do not want your degrees if they come at the price of suffocating our minds. We do not want your curricula if they become cages preventing us from taking flight.
Science belongs to humanity, and humanity is not your exclusive possession.
Let the guardianship of the financial elite fall, and let the age of free and independent science rise.
Science… or Death
Today we are engaged in an existential struggle. Not a struggle with weapons, but a struggle of minds. Whoever possesses the mind possesses the future. Whoever captures the mind enslaves generations.
Western universities that bow today to financial elites are not merely institutions suffering from corruption; they can become instruments for appropriating human agency. In doing so, they abandon their fundamental mission: the pursuit of truth, whatever the cost.
Either we reclaim science as an act of liberation, or we remain prisoners of illusions produced for us by financial elites while we mistake them for absolute truth.
The choice is ours. Science is ours. The future is ours. Let the revolution begin.
